The different of Spandex Melt spinning production and dry spinning production

We all know that there're two ways to make spandex yarn, dry spinning and melt spinning.

Dry spinning: Big capacity, can make bigger denier. Negative: Big investment (hundred million). Process more complex, not good to environment.

Melt spinning: small investment, easy process, environment-friendly, safety for cloth of humans. Negative: only make denier 15-40D. Capacity is small of one line.

Is the Melt spandex yarn same as dry spandex?

The application of melt spandex yarn is mostly similar as dry spinning yarn, just limited:

Low temperature dyeing: 100℃ Low temperature setting process: 170-180℃

This cause melt spandex yarn can't combine together with polyester, because polyester dyeing temperature is 130℃.

But it's OK to use with Micro polyester and Cationic dyed polyester.

And it's no problem to use together with PA / cotton/ viscose/colored spun yarn

The character of melt spandex yarn:

More comfortable than dry spandex

More safety than dry spandex

So it's very popular use for underwear/sports wear/ Yoga wear / baby wear.

What’s the foreground of melt spandex?

The Spandex project, Melt Spun Spandex is getting popular though the market is largely dominated by Dry spun technology. As long as quality of yarn satisfy the need of customer and perform well in fabric processing and in garments with consumers, we would be very much ok.

Many countries doesn’t have any spandex manufacturing plant as on date in spite of having a sizable market. The denier rage of 15-40 Denier would be a bit narrow. If denier range is 15-140 then it would be great.
